The Closure of The Last Makeshift Hospital in Wuhan Today

A personal entry from a front line reporter, Wang Jiaxing.During the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, 16 makeshift hospitals were converted from public facilities to treat patients with mild symptoms during the outbreak. On March 10th, 2020, all the temporary hospitals are closed, as the number of COVID-19 patients continues to drop in the city.Humans of Wuhan has received the author’s authorization to translate this entry and publish it on our website.

The closure of the last makeshift hospital in Wuhan today, the reason why I am here, marks the completion of its mission. Busy documenting, I ended up being the last one in the space. These pictures probably narrate the stories better than words can. The convention of suit-doodling continued. On my crumpled suit, it writes “Wang Jiaxing, From Wuhan.” Upon leaving, a Particle Detector marked as donations from my alma-mater Tsinghua University caught my attention- hey world- who would like to claim the gift?
